The Sri Lanka Embassy in Jordan celebrated the Vesak on Friday 24th May 2013 at the Embassy premises in commemorating Lord Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment and passing away. The embassy premise was decorated with Buddhist flags and colorful illuminations for the occasion.

Most Ven. Hegoda Vipassi Thero, Director of Rathmalana Darma Paryeshanalaya of Sri Lanka who was specially flown from Sri Lanka to Jordan with the courtesy of Trico International participated in the morning and evening session of the Vesak.

The morning programme started with the offering of “Mal Pahan Puja” at the Embassy Shrine room. As last year, a day-long Sil Campaign was arranged in the morning. The Buddhist members of the Embassy staff and around 60 safe-house inmates took part in the Sil campaign. All participants were served Heel Dhana, Daval Dhana and Gilampasa. Special Dharma Sermon was delivered by Ven. Vipassi Thero in the evening. More than 1000 Sri Lankans participated at the evening session.

The donation received from devotees during the “Vesak” day at the Embassy was handed over to the Ven. Vipassi Thero to be utilized for charitable projects. In addition to the refreshments provided by the Embassy, several well wishers offered food and refreshments to the devotees.
